“The intangible message of the symbolic garden”
Conference at the Pedralbes Monastery by Inés Castel-Branco. A monastery is a human and Christian place, an imago mundi, a small and tidy symbolic cosmos. At its center, the cloister: a large gap opened up, protected from the outside world, which guides to the great community sites. Pedralbes is close to the city but not in the city. Queen Elisenda wanted the nuns to pray for the salvation of her soul and wrote to the Pope asking permission to build a monastery. In a few years the church was opened and the monastery continued to grow organically and integrating the various circles of privacy.
